The bingo online Challenge!
On December 1st, 2005, I wrote this: I haven’t discussed this with Otis or G-Rob, but that’s okay. They’re just going to have to deal with my bravado whether they like it or not. Up For Poker is issuing a challenge to any other threesome in a last-longer for the WPBT Winter Classic. Here’s how I figure it will work: 1) Final results of the three entrants will be added together, lowest total wins. 2) Each member of each team will throw in $5 and the winning team will split the last-longer prize pool. (All teams are playing against all teams and the winning team will win the total prize pool.) So find your team, and leave it in the comments. I’ll bring a list to Vegas and you all can hand over your money. After all, you think anyone can beat the combination of Otis’ skill, G-Rob’s agression and my luck? Well, guess what? I still haven’t discussed this with Otis or G-Rob, but it’s on again. The Up For Poker crew is challenging you. Same rules. Same prizes. (FYI: Comments currently require approval while I work out some spam issues, so you won’t see your comment right away.)

Try to play Incredible Hulk Slots today , and win prizes

Why Bill Belichick Was Wrong
I can’t believe there’s even a discussion about jeux de casino. Everyone knows that Belichick was wrong. He made an arrogant decision that cost his team a victory. Yet rocket scientists and amateur online casino poker players everywhere are breaking out their protractors to justify this game-losing decision. Well, I spent about 10 minutes doing my own research. I present: Other numbers. Over the last 6 weeks of the 2009 NFL football season, teams have attempted to go for it on 4th and 2 on 14 different occasions (including Belichick’s dumb decision). Any idea how many times those 14 attempts have been successful? I’ll give you a minute to guess. Yep, it’s zero. That’s right. A big 0%. Eight incomplete passes, two failed runs, two interceptions, one sack and Belichick’s pass that came up inches short. I wonder if Belichick knew how difficult it is to convert 4th and 2 when he made his bone-headed decision? Anyone who understands football understands the difficulty in converting 4th and 2. It’s a little too far to run meaning teams can play for the pass. In fact, Belichick made it even easier on the Colts by emptying the backfield eliminating any threat of a run at all. Of course, many argue that had New England punted that Manning (because he’s so super-awesome) would have lead a TD drive anyway. I wonder what the numbers say? Over the last 6 weeks of the season, Indianapolis has had 37 drives starting from the 30 or behind and they’ve converted TDs in 10 of them. That’s 27%. Over the last 6 weeks of the season, New England’s opponents have had 44 drives starting from the 30 or behind and they’ve convered TDs in 5 of them. That’s 11%. What about when New England and Indianapolis play each other? Here are some more numbers. In this year’s game, Indianapolis had 12 drives starting from the 30 or behind and they converted TDs in 3 of them. That’s 25%. Since 2006 against New England, Indianapolis had 29 drives starting from the 30 or behind and they converted TDs in 6 of them. That’s 21%. Of course, Indianapolis got the ball from the 40 yard line or closer twice against New England since 2006 and, predictably, both resulted in TDs, including the game-winner a week ago. So what do the numbers tell me? 4th and 2 conversion rate last 6 weeks: 0% Indianapolis’ TD rate from 70+ yards vs. NFL last 6 weeks: 27% New England’s opponents’ TD rate from 70+ yards last 6 weeks: 11% Indianapolis’ TD rate from 70+ yards vs. NE last week: 25% Indianapolis’ TD rate from 70+ yards vs. NE since 2006: 21% I don’t know about you… but those numbers certainly don’t support going for it on 4th and 2. Looks like NE had a chance somewhere between 75% and 85% of stopping Indianapolis on a long TD drive but very little chance of either converting the 4th down or stopping the Colts if they failed on the 4th down conversion. And that doesn’t even include the fact that the Colts would have been attempting this drive with just 1 timeout and just 2 minutes left in the game which likely lowers the Colts’ percentages. Of course, lots of people will say I’m cherry-picking. Guess what? That’s what statisticians do. They cherry-pick numbers to support their case. This was a bad decision by Belichick. It’s clear that the decision was last-second which only compounded the mistake. Had New England really intended to go for it on 4th down no matter what, there’s little chance they throw the ball on 3rd down. Not only would a run have been a surprise on 3rd (giving it a better chance of succeeding) it also would have forced the Colts to burn their final timeout and it would likely have gotten them closer for their 4th down attempt (which, given the spot, would have made all the difference). When New England failed on 3rd down, most of the offense was running off the fiel

d and New England was then forced to burn their last timeout which prevented them from challenging the spot on 4th down (although I’m not sure a challenge would have worked). If the plan was to go for it on 4th all along, wouldn’t the offense have known that? After all, they had already burned a timeout in that same drive! Not to mention, going for it in this situation brings all kinds of factors into play, including crowd noise and the potential of the home crowd to influence any close spot in favor of the Colts. Of course, context doesn’t matter to the people with their fancy equations. Context is irrelevant, right?

The Brink of casino games History
I’m not sure how it’s happened, but it has. Otis, G-Rob and The william hill (that’s me) are all above .500 ten weeks into the fantasy football season and all have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs. Doesn’t sound like a big deal? Well, let’s take a look back at history. In the past 5 seasons, our three teams have a collective 4 playoff appearances and no Super Bowl crowns. We have a collective record of 89-104-3. We have a total of 5 winning seasons among us. Of course, Otis does a lot to bring that total down. All I’ll say about his career fantasy football record is that his only winning season is the year we played XFL Fantasy virtual casino Football. I’m serious. He won the Super Bowl. But this year, the three of us are bunched at the top of the Carolina Division. I’m at 8-2 and Otis and G-Rob are both at 6-4. If the playoffs started this week, G-Rob and I would both be in the playoffs. Otis trails G-Rob by just two points for the final playoff spot and both of them trail the 3rd place team by a game. Of course, there’s still 4 regular season weeks left for something to go wrong. The only thing guaranteed is that at least one of us will be in the playoffs this year. Which sure beats last year when we were a combined 15-26-1!

There are still options available for US poker players
by Sunday,25 Sep 2011 In the wake of Black Friday US poker pros are still searching for a big game Its a tough life for a poker player in the United States since the events of April 15th or Black Friday. An estimated 50,000 Americans made their living from playing poker online and overnight not only did they have their livelihoods taken away from them but also their savings. When the US Department of Justice swooped down on the biggest three poker sites in the world their accounts were frozen. In the case of Poker Stars it was just a temporary setback and their players all regained access to their accounts within a matter of days. With regards to Absolute Poker (CEREUS Network) and Full Tilt Poker players are still waiting for their money and it wouldnt be unwise to assume that the money isnt coming back any time soon.Poker players in the United States still have several options if they want to continue to ply their trade. They can leave their homes for a country that hasnt outlawed online poker, Canada is a particularly popular choice. The problem is that the Canadians arent particularly excited about having poker players moving to their country and Canadian immigration authorities are now insisting that those moving across the border in order to play poker register their intention on their visa applications and have the intention of taxing them on their winnings. This leaves open the other option of moving to another country and simply living on a tourist visa making occasional trips away for the purposes of renewing their visa. The problem with this option is it means abandoning their homes. Not all players find success at the top level but most are grinders who make a living without becoming millionaires and they cant just afford to pick up and leave everything behind. The live game in the US is experiencing something of a revival, probably owing to the collapse of the online game. There are casinos in many US states and they are expanding their card rooms to cope with the influx of poker pros looking for action. Although there isnt as much money in the live cash games, the live tournaments, particularly the big ones such as the World Poker Tour offer hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money, making them a very tempting target. The recent World Series of Poker is testament to the extent poker pros are willing to go to in search of finding a big poker pot to take.

Nevada Casino Revenue Rises In November, Gaming Stocks Rise
The Nevada economy has been highly reliant on their gaming industry for several decades. That reliance has, for the most part, been a key for stability in Nevada. When the economic recession hit, however, in 2008, Nevada lawmakers were faced with a dwindling budget for the first time in a long time. The Nevada gaming industry had been hit hard by the recession. An industry that previously had been immune to the economic hardships of the country, had suddenly found itself as one of the worst off because of a recession. The troubles have lasted well into the next few years, but things finally are starting to look up for Las Vegas casinos. The Nevada Gaming Control Board released figures this week that show state casinos bringing in $880.1 million in revenue in November. That figure represented an increase of over seven percent from the same period in 2010. In Las Vegas, casinos won $495.3 million, up nine percent from the previous year. The increase in revenue has some analysts believing that the industry may be on its way back to prominence.”Although the revenue increase was in November, the momentum, coupled with the Department of Justice’s ruling in December, should open the door for a complete revival within the gaming industry, not only in Nevada, but all across the US,” said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. “The industry will likely see a sharp increase in activity, led by the online casinos that will be open by the end of the year.”The DoJ opinion released in December opened the door for online gambling regulations by state. Nevada and New Jersey have already passed online poker laws, as has the District of Columbia. The online gambling boom that is expected in the coming years, has led investors to start believing once again in US-based gaming company stocks. On Wednesday, Boyd Gaming stock was up 7.39%, to $7.56 at the close of the day. Boyd Gaming is one of the companies that has already partnered with a foreign online gaming company in anticipation of changing US laws.Las Vegas Sands, even with CEO Sheldon Adelson being one of the lone gaming CEO’s against online gambling regulations in the US, saw its stock rise 2.42%, to $44.85 a share. MGM Resorts stock closed at $11.96, representing an increase of 4.55%. Wynn Resorts, the top performing gaming stock on the US market, closed Wednesday at $111.89, up 4.05%. Wynn stock jumped 4.36% for the day. January 12, 2012Posted By April GardnerStaff Editor, CasinoGamblingWeb.comSubmit News!

Negreanu knows what’s what in the world of poker
by Thursday,22 Sep 2011 Already a poker legend Daniel Negreanu is taking a bigger role behind the scenes Some of the biggest poker stars in the world are logging on to their PokerStars accounts in order to get in on the estimated $30 million dollars cash thats available in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) event that is happening right now and continues for the best part of a month. One player who cant stop writing, tweeting and generally blabbing about the massive event is Canadian Poker mega star Daniel Negreanu. This player is one of the most instantly recognisable faces of the game and is constantly appearing on television in both live events as well as online games. In the wake of the Black Friday events Negreanu left his home in Las Vegas, Nevada and returned to his native Canada in order to continue playing the online game. The WCOOP will provide him with an excellent opportunity to ensure that this was the right decision as he looks to grab a big piece of the pot in the coming days. As one of the faces of PokerStars Negreanu is often talking about their events and issues, recently he tweeted about their technical issues to reassure players that they were under control. He is known not to shy away from the major issues of the day and strongly criticised Full Tilt Poker when they were involved in a spat with fellow poker megastar Phil Ivey over their refusal to payback their players funds. The Canadian player isnt just valued for his poker skills but also for his business acumen. The Vice President of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), Ty Stewart, said of Negreanu that “He’s the complete package. There are many brilliant thinkers on the poker side but he understands the business and marketing side as well as anyone is able to.” He even went as far as saying Id happily work for him one day. Negreanu is known for associating not just with poker players but also with the executives who run the tournaments, offering advice on how to improve their services and attract more players. Even Phil Helmuth admits that Negreanu is one helluva businessman saying “Yeah, he’s definitely a good ambassador for poker,” Hellmuth admitted. “He’s a really good one, maybe great. He generates a lot of interest amongst fans all across the planet. People want to watch him play, hear his shtick, you know?

Lock Poker is making waves with the Malta LGA
by Sunday,18 Sep 2011 Despite the fact that their logo appears on the Lock Poker website the Malta LGA says they are not affiliated The Poker industry has had more than its fair share of scandals, what with the events of April the 15th or Black Friday and the Full Tilt Poker scandal that rocked the online poker world one would have thought that there have been enough shady goings on to last a life time. Apparently Lock Poker disagree, they are currently in a spat with the Malta Licensing Authority as they have been displaying their logo on the Lock Poker website for some time despite the fact that according to the Maltese gaming authority the appearance on the Lock Poker site of their logo is both false and misleading. After looking into the matter a little more deeply it can be understood where the poker site may have made their mistake. Lock Poker belongs to the Merge Gaming Network which does, in fact, have a category four gaming license that was issued to them by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) of Malta. Lock Poker may have assumed that because the network was certified by the LGA then that would extend to them. The LGA have been very forceful in underlining the fact that this is absolutely not the case and the errant poker room are likely to come under massive pressure to remove the logo from both the Maltese authorities and their own network. The precise statement from the LGA was as follows; The Lotteries and Gaming Authority (the Authority’) would like to inform the public that the websitehttp://lockpoker.eu/ has no connection whatsoever with the Authority and therefore any mention of the Authority or licence issued by the Authority on the mentioned website is false and misleading. There isnt much room for interpretation from a statement like this, it is pretty clear what the situation is. The Maltese authority doesnt just have a very loud bark but an extremely tough bite as well. They havent hesitated to suspend and/or cancel the licenses of gaming companies that they have found to be in breach of their own rules. The list of suspended gaming sites is long and illustrious with the Betonbet, Gold Victory, Betchance and many more suspended sites able to vouch for this. Lock Poker are going to have to remove the logo or continue to face the wrath of the Maltese LGA one of the most respected gaming authorities in the world.

Lou Diamond Im A Celebrity USA
CelebPoker Star in Im CelebPokers resident Texas Hold em coach and established movie actor, Lou Diamond Phillips is playing a whole new game this summer as the star of Im A Celebrity USA. The former professional Poker player and star of Young Guns, who is now the face of the CelebPoker.com Poker School, is proving a big hit in the American version of the show, which also includes Stephen and Daniel Baldwin, brothers of Alec, and Janice Dickinson, who was runner up in the British series in 2007. Its great to see Lou proving such a hit in Im a Celebrity and were hoping hell show the same staying power in the show that hes demonstrated at the Poker table, said David Donovan, Chief Executive Officer of CelebPoker.com. Hes a really charismatic guy, which is why we chose him as one of the faces of CelebPoker.com. The 47-year-old actor, who also directs movies and television shows, entered the show when it began on June 1st and has been game for all the challenges that the shows producers have thrown him, beating all the other contestants to win Hang Tough a game that involved hanging from steel bars above a tank of stagnant water. The team are all glued to the coverage of the show, which we can catch over here on ITV2 and weve got our fingers crossed that Lou can win this one, added David, In some ways its a bit like poker as you need to mask your true feelings and hang in there if you want to win the big prize. When Im a Celebrity comes to an end, Diamond Phillips will return to work on the TV mini-series Love Takes Wing, which he is currently directing, as well as a part in Stargate Universe and the lead role in paranormal movie, The Invited. 17th June 2009 Issued on behalf of CelebPoker.com by Julian Bewley For further information please contact: (01244) 679 660julian@celebpoker.com About CelebPoker.comCelebPoker.com was voted the Best Poker Software 2007 by readers of Gambling Online Magazine and is an exciting, fully licensed and regulated online poker room available in 14 languages.

Players Start To Arrive For WSOP Main Event Final Table
This Sunday, the November Nine will return to the scene where they had so much success earlier in the World Series of Poker main event. The nine finalists return to the tables at the Rio on Sunday, when they will begin play for the biggest prize in professional poker today. The $8 million top prize has become somewhat of an afterthought for players over the past couple of months. Once they reached the final table back in July, the players became instant celebrities, and they have spent the past few months juggling their fame with their practice schedule. all of the players have gone over in-depth strategies in their head over and over.Sunday, those strategies will all go out the window when the cards are finally dealt at the final table. The players will be able to execute the first few phases of their strategy, but likely will have to adjust on the fly as the cards will dictate which players move along in the tournament. A bad run of cards at this point could mean disaster for some of the finalists. One player who will be able to handle not receiving cards for the first portion of the main event will be chip leader Martin Stasko. He currently has over forty million in chips, more than doubling the stacks of players in six through nine positions. Eoghan O’Dea is second with just over 33 million in chips, and Matt Giannetti is third at 24,750,000. Sam Holden is the short stack, holding 12,375,000.The players started arriving last week, and have been homing their skills by playing in tournaments and cash games. The play will continue likely up until Saturday, when players will get a good night’s rest before they begin the grueling run that is the final table. Play will continue Sunday and Monday, and the champion is expected to be crowned sometime on Tuesday. November 2, 2011Posted By Tom JonesStaff Editor, CasinoGamblingWeb.comSubmit News!
